Stamp Promo!

We have a very special week planned for you with the Getty Cricky Design Team.   We will be introducing you to the new design team! Each of the girls have selected one stamp sets to feature!  Today is actually the 6th day of this promo week, so make sure you head over to Getty Cricky to see all of the projects from the entire design team from the past week.

The stamp set I will be featuring is Sympathetic Sayings.

We recently had a close friend of my husband's family pass away.  Here is the card I created for her family.  I used the saying "May God's comfort be with you"

I like the butterfly paper on this card because it is colorful, without being TOO MUCH color, and butterflies represent change.  The person who passed away is much like a butterfly . . . she is no longer held in the cocoon of her body . . . she is now free.

Now, don't forget, Kristal is having a very special sale during this promo week.

Take special advantage of a 20% discount on your entire purchase by using code "letshavefun" at checkout.

Click HERE to head on over and pick up your stamp sets.

One last thing . . . Kristal just came out with a new set that I personally LOVE called Of Mice and Lil Men, and I am hoping to get a few projects made with it soon because it would be PERFECT to use for our upcoming Disney Pixar Blog Hop!

For more information about the hop, you can check out our Facebook Event Page for it.

Peace, Love and Mickey Mouse!

I hope you have been enjoying the week long celebration of Disney, which was the idea of Janis at Pause Dream Enjoy.

This is not a hop . . . it is just a group of crafters that have all promised to ONLY post Disney related projects on their site this week.  Some people might post a new project every day, others may only get a few projects out all week, but they will all be Disney (or some other animated character)

For today's project I want to show off the saying that I put on the wall of my craft room using vinyl from My Hobby Vinyl.  I have used this vinyl for a few crafting projects and I love how easy it cuts with my Cricut!

I cut the words Mickey Mouse out of the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge.  I like that it looks like Mickey's signature.  The rest of the words were cut from various Cricut cartridges, and for a finishing touch I added some Mickey Mouse icons around the phrase.  Here is a picture of the phrase where you can see more of the shelves in my craft room also . . .

If you are thinking of trying a vinyl project I recommend using My Hobby Vinyl.  You can check out their Facebook page HERE.

If you had fun checking out my project, make sure to see what all of the other crafters have created by clicking on their names below . . . it will take you right to their blog.  Also, mark your calendar because I will be co-hosting a Disney Pixar Blog Hop May 19th and 20th.  If you want a reminder, you can go to the Facebook page HERE.

Baking up some Disney fun!

While my daughter was home for Spring Break we wanted to do some fun projects together.  One of them I featured on Sunday . . . making Easter eggs with a little help from some vinyl and my Cricut.  Well, we also love baking and my daughter's favorite Disney character is Donald Duck.  I have a set of Disney cookie cutters and we decided to put the Donald Duck one to use.

First we cut out the cookie shapes.

Now, I normally cover my sugar cookies with frosting, but we did not want all of that frosting to cover up the cute Donald Duck faces . . . and I did not want to sit and try and "paint in" all of the different areas with different colored frosting . . . that would take a long time and a steady hand.  So we decided to try some colored sugar.

I put some sugar into disposable cups, and then added a few drops of food coloring and stirred it around.  Then we put heaping spoonfuls of the sugar on the cookies . . . blue where Donald's hat is, yellow on his bill and white in the middle for the main part of his face.
Then we used our fingers to push the sugar into the lines of the Donald Duck image.  We did not worry too much about staying inside the lines . . . we thought it kind of looked like a young child's coloring book, where they get the right colors in the right areas, but the color does not always stay inside the lines.
Once we baked them they looked like this . . .
Here is a close up . . .

I think they turned out cute . . . and they taste good too!

Happy Easter . . . with a little Disney!

I hope that all of you are enjoying your Easter! Today is also the kick off to a week long celebration of Disney, which was the idea of Janis at Pause Dream Enjoy.

This is not a hop . . . it is just a group of crafters that have all promised to ONLY post Disney related projects on their site this week.  Some people might post a new project every day, others may only get a few projects out all week, but they will all be Disney (or some other animated character)

For today I want to show you a project I did with my daughter while she was home over Spring Break.
We used vinyl from My Hobby Vinyl to cut out shapes to decorate our Easter eggs.

For two of the eggs we dyed them a solid color first.  Then we added the shapes that we cut out of vinyl.

My daughter used a swirl shape on her egg.  We used painter's tape to help us transfer the cut vinyl on to the eggs.

I love the vinyl from My Hobby Vinyl . . . it cuts and transfers so easily, even my 11 year old daughter could do this project with ease!  (Click HERE for their Facebook page)

After we placed the swirls on the egg, we put it into a different color of dye.  Then we allowed it to dry completely before we removed the vinyl, and here is what the finished egg looked like . . .

I cut Mickey Mouse icons for my egg . . .

Then my daughter wanted to try something different . . . what if we made the egg look like a minion from Despicable Me!

For this one we dyed the entire egg yellow, and then dip dyed the bottom half blue.  Then we used vinyl to create the eye and mouth.

What if we made one that looked like Donald Duck!

For this one we dip dyed the bottom half blue, then used vinyl to cut the bow, duck bill, eyes and hat.

My Memories Suite Tip

I just found out a something about My Memories Suite that I HAD to share with you!

Sometimes when I am working on a digital scrapbook I like to look through several different element folders and just drop things I like onto a blank page like this . . .

Sometimes it helps to get my inspiration going by seeing some of the different elements I might want to work with just thrown on a page, and I can come back and delete things I don't want to use later.

But what happens if you come back later and want to add MORE of a similar element but cannot remember what folder you first pulled it from?  Or you want to find the matching paper, but again, don't know the name of the set, so you don't know where to look.  This is what happened to me . . . when I wanted to find other tags with snowflakes from the same set as the one in the lower left of the page I am showing here, I could not remember WHERE I pulled it from!

I contacted My Memories Support and they taught me this GREAT trick!

Select the image and then press the following command.

Control+Shift+F10

When I did this, another little window popped up that looks like this . . .

I know it is hard to read here, because I had to scale it down to fit on my blog, but the first line in this message tells me the file path for the element I had selected!  Here is a blow up of JUST the file location info . . .

So now I know that this element was in the Designer Embellishments, under Kid Fun, Winter Frost . . . and I had been looking in all of the seasonal and winter folders . . . no wonder I could not find it!

I think this is a great way to help you find where things are, since I know I often pull papers and element from all different folders to get me started, and then later on I cannot remember where I found it in the first place!

Not an April Fools Joke . . .

I want to share these coupons with you for Archiver's!

I also wanted to let you know that I have been busy recently updating MyCutSearch.com!  I now have ALL of the Cricut Craft Room Exclusive cartridges listed on the site!  I also found a few digital handbooks that ProvoCraft had not previously released, and I only have 10 more cartridges to add to the site and then I should be as complete as I can be . . . the only cartridges we would be missing after that would be ones that there are not digital handbooks for (which is about 19 cartridges)
